The problem that I have is that at various times my adsl connection will just delay (lag) before doing something. Examples of this is a delay before accessing a website and in cs (counter-strike), delayed movedments. The setup of my connection is: my nic, to my router (smc 7004abr model), to my modem (westell wirespeed). My theory is that the router is at the root of the problem, but I am not sure. This problem is temporarily fixed by rebooting the router, modem, and pc. Please help! Thanks in advance.

One, it called a power cycle when you roboot your modem, router. Have you tried elminating the router and going from modem to nic? Have you tried just rebooting the modem and nothing else??

Well, I can't go from the nic to the modem because my brother shares the connection with me (which is the reason for the router). I will try just rebooting the modem.

Rebooting just the modem improves the problem slightly, but does not fix it as rebooting everything would. Any advice anyone?
