This is a small 5 system LAN of Win2K boxes and 1 XP system. The shared printer is on a Win2K box.

Everyone can use the printer except the XP box which gives a non-permission error.

I've tripple checked p/w, user accounts, enabled everyone for printing on the share, etc.

The XP sees the printer....I de-installed the printer on the XP box and reinstalled. During the 'browse' for network printer, it DOES find the shared printer...so the network connection should be fine.

I'm totally out of ideas here. I HAVE found 2-3 cases in usenet searches of people having what sounds to be this exact same issue but a fix was never given.

Is this an XP/Win2K compat. issue?

Welcome to SysOpt!

Have you tried specifically adding the user in the permissions for the printer share?

Thnx for the welcome. Looks like a great forum!

Yes, I've added the user specifically as well as added Admins (which that user is) and also added 'everyone'.

One thing I haven't tried yet is to have the XP box logged on as Administrator. Even tho the user name that was attempting the print before had Admin rights, there may be something different about actually being logged in as user: Admin.

I'll find out later from the system owners if this had any affect.
