system performance 70%

I am new at this and have tried everything minor. I can't seem to find out how to clean hidden files. Any help would be appreciated. Also if you could give step by step instructions.
800mhz 10g computer is only 2 years old. I would like to run at 89% or better. I have no games or programs that run continuously.
