Can you tell if this spider is done in photoshop? I had a very heated and violent discussion between my friends at work whether this spider was real or not.

Yup - it's the spiders that you can't see that'll kill you. The worst that the huntsman spider can do is scare you to death.

if i saw that i'd scream like a little girl :D

the first two would be easy to fake but the third one lots harder because you can see the hairs in the spider and the texture on the background.

Although if you had a really clean matte of a spider you could easily fake it. The shadow on the third image looks really light, i thought thered be more of a shadow at least under the jaws which appear to be off the surface a bit.

I thought the largest spider was of the tarantula species, a version in south america that gets to maybe dinner plate size. This thing looks unreal!

So to tell you if its a fake its pretty good.

We got lots of em, but NOT NEARLY the size of this one. The largest i've ever seen is the tarantula.

That looks like Bruce (our friend that comes inside when it looks like rain). Ugly but harmless.

That's a nice sized spider. When I lived in Central America for a while in the rainforest we had the luxury of wolf spider visits. Yeahhh, they're all cute and fuzzy....makes you want to hold it and craddle it and name it George.

It's real, look at the second and third picture comparing the wall, unless the person was really careful to make them match up they wouldn't. The story could very well be, but it moved, but since it didn't, and it's unlikely for it to move when being caught out in the open - as most spiders do stay still - especially the larger they get.

He sites his location as Texas, they have tarantulas that big over there, never seen them, but have seen them in the zoo with the location grid over texas. Hell, we have some in Louisiana that look similar to that size wise but love to fall from trees on you - banana spiders. They look like the could eat a banana the size they are. So I really don't dismiss it as a fake as one, they can get that big in that area and two, it doesn't look like it was photoshopped at all really - they either use really poor or really good quality pictures, as the middle ground average picture requires a lot more filtering (which is this type of picture). If it was, I'd have to say that's one of the best damned photoshopped pieces I've seen in awhile though if it is.

I was thinking of pulling the picture and checking it for a signature in photoshop, as you'd be surprised how many good fakes someone leaves a signature on just to say HAHAHA I fooled you. The only thing that makes it odd is that he was able to get up close to it and get a clock over it. I mean the bigger one's generally do have a bigger set of balls so to speak, but that's just plain ridiculous. A banana spider would have bit the crazy mf'er trying to do that (as they can jump). Though being from texas it's probably used to being on flat areas of similar color (like sand), thus it felt safe and thought it was camoflagued. Also might not be an aggressive species, some aren't, while some are horribly so. Some species have that stay put and don't move a damned muscle reaction while some will just plain go after your ***, no matter how big you are. I guess he was lucky and got the first, else he'd have a face hugger on him biting him not so gently to say the least.

I would say it is real. I have met a lot of graphics artists but never one that can do hair that well.

I'd say it real. The link below tells more.
