Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Working Poll: The best search engine for obscure topics?

This isn't a feel-good poll. It's a working poll, intended to solve a problem. I am looking for a better search engine, or "the best" if there is such a thing.

Some search engines just ain't that smart.

If you search for an obscure topic, like Rhodes Mariner sailboats, you get no hits in some search engines, 50 in others. I use Hotbot when going after esoterica.

Has anyone found a search engine that finds references to uncommon topics, and doesn't give you lawyers and porn sites when you try to look up diesel engines?

GOOGLE - makes other search engines feel weak and insecure.

I've been using webferrit for ages. Work now uses it after we had some success looking for test equipment specifications.

I also find that GOOGLE is the best search engine for anything.

I use a prog. called copernic 2001. It basically searches a list of search engines of your choice and displays the results from each one in order.

I guess Google wins!

I used to use hotbot for the last couple of years, but the quality of the hits has gone down. I switched over to google just a few months ago and rarely use anything else.

Google. Everyone else is trying to steer me to books at Amazon.com on the subject, etc......

just a note to add to this .
copernic 2001 pro use's google as one of many search engines. It will also search by catagory mp3,email,images,geaneology,games,humor,etc,etc.
it will validate sites(no more dead links),and save the results for later use.
