Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : 80 min CDRs - any difference besides the obvious?
I am new to the 80 minute CDR thing because I owned a 2X burner that didn't support them. Now I've upgraded to a Philips 8X burner ($79!)... at the same time I purchased 50 spindle of Memorex 80min CDRs for $5 after rebates.
Now I'm pretty sure that my burner has no problem with these, since I'm burning with Nero 5.5 ...
My question is... can I treat these CDRs just the same as 74min regular CDRs? I mean, recording audio music (wav format) - will they play in a car CD player just the same? Burning data for backup, VCDs, ISO files, etc... things like that... please clarify for me... $5 for 50CDRs was too good to pass up.

I've never had a problem with 80min disks
any player that plays 74min disks works fine
with 80s for me.They work the same no different from 74s,you don't have to do anything different just burn.

80min CD's work in my mum's old stereo and it's just over 10years old I think.
The answer is a big depends. It depends if your car stereo can read it. My will only read 25 tracks. It'll play only the first 25 and ignore the rest.
Why did you pay so much for your discs? My last was 200 for free!

It should. Never had problems on my side.
Where do you go about getting CDRs for free these days ? They always have promotions, but is there someplace you can ALWAYS get it for free? My 50 for $5 was after $12 of rebates.
The last was as a very special Office Max deal...200 for free w/rebate. I'm still waiting for rebate. I usually get them. Sometimes I have to jump on them.
But I usually wind up paying $5 per 50 or so w/rebate. I ask for blanks for birthdays, father's day, etc....
I wouldn't request a $5 gift for a special occasion http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I had probs with 80min Memorex CD-Rs working in my Panasonic portable CD player with anti-skip mode on. I think it was the brand, though, not the length.
I got 50 CD-Rs for $10 from Outpost.com with free shipping.
