ASUS CUSL2-C and SB Live!

Seems like every time I look someone is having problems with systems using the SB Live! series of soundcards. My new system uses the Live Value on an ASUS CUSL2-C mobo. I am having problems with shutdown and restarting the computer. The usual fixes under Win98SE have not helped. I have noted on the ASUS forum that others are having similar problems with this board; the common denominator seems to be the SB Live! Anyone here seen this? Anyone here have a CUSL2-C based system with an SB Live! that is working properly?

One of my systems has a CUSL2-C and a Soundblaster Live! 5.1 in it. Works great - no problems at all. Of course, the only Soundblaster software I have installed is the drivers. I avoided loading my machine up with the other 147 things that come on the CD....

Matt!! Creative has added a page on their site regarding shutdown problems and the SB Live! series. Their fix involves disabling the emulation software that is part of the Live!Ware. Looks like you avoided the problem by wisely NOT installing the stuff in the first place... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
