Can anyone tell me how to print directly to my networked printer
at home over the internet.
The printer is connected to a printserver.

You'll have to read your print server's manual. If you don't have it handy, go to the manufacturer's website. What kind do you have?

You will need to set up a VPN connection from work to home or you need to setup RAS for a connection.

Leaving your home system open to the Internet without a router/firewall is asking for every hacker to take a crack at wiping out your system.

I do have a router/firewall in place, but I would think there are security measures you could take that would allow you to do it securely.

The print server manual shows you how to setup the server but not necessarily how to do the remote printing.

If using Win2k, you could set up an internet print server. Basicly is appears as a website and you picked the printer(s) you would want to print to.
