I've been having problems with my 7vjl motherboard. Since it's installation my system is unable to execute the ATX routine thus shuting down by it self. I have the andvanced power management support enabled but the system refuses to shutdown properly , when it reaches to the point where windows XP informs you that "It is now safe to shutdown your computer" it wont go any further , although it does make the correct sound , you the little "click" just before it shuts down. I would really appreciate it if someone can tell me how to solve this problem. My system is a Athlo XP 2000+ , 256 ddr 2700 , MSI GF4Ti4200 64MB.

Thank you in advance

Update your BIOS first.

If you upgraded Windows to XP, it may be a bad setup. It's always best to install fresh. Be sure that ACPI and APM are enabled in BIOS setup.

I think I have the latest bios version and both of the options you mentioned are enabled. Any other suggestions?

Look in Control Panel > Power Options. Is there an APM tab? Is APM enabled?
