I have sold quite a bit of computer related items on e-bay and have been satisfied with the results. They have all been low-priced items, under $60 or so. I have found that if you give the buyer the information he should have (a lot of ads don't), and have reasonable shipping charges you do ok. I sold an old dot matrix printer for $5 just because I had really enjoyed it and wanted it to have a home.

I frequently buy and sell on Ebay, computer parts go good! When you sell there, you're open to an audience of hundreds of thousands of buyers. A good honset description with any special details will usually sell, pictures help!

I have a few computer parts I'd like to sell and I was wondering what you all think about selling things there. It seems that the sellers are getting pretty good money from the bidders. I've been watching these guys sell processors for more than you can buy them new at a website. Just wanted somebody's opinion.
Thanks

Hey do you guys know what one should do when someone won't send an item from an auction that was paid for, and is after the two month time limit to file for fraud in eBay? I sent someone a money order for a processor back in February and as of now I have received exactly one e-mail back, and that was over a month ago.

I just ordered a mini super orb off ebay with no problems. Sorry I can't help you with the fraud there. I'm new at this. My feedback rating is a big fat 0.

Eli if you sent a money order, I believe the postal department can help you. Go have a chat with your post master at your local post office. Postal fraud is taken very seriously at the PO...
Be sure to take your money order reciept with you.
Mail fraud is a federal offence, and most ppl will settle pronto when contacted by the feds, or postal fraud employees.
The guy on the other end may try the old "I sent the dam thing already!!"..but of course they never have any proof of shipping.

Follow this link to most of the best places on the net to get help! I got took for $875 on boxlot auctions a year ago. Over 600 others got took by the same crew! Last fall, Jeff, Wanda, and Richard Wesko made number three (#3) on the Justice Department's Top Ten Internet Scam List http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif (Like the little girl on the Shake and Bake commercial says: "And I helped!") http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Eli
Post a message at the link below and you should get a fast and informative response. I had a problem with a seller, it took awhile but I did get the item.

If you plain on selling use pic's as the really help! If you don't have an eval with eBay it will be at first hard to get your asking price. A lot of people won't bid if your eval is "0" because of Fraud problems. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

EBay is great for sellers - that old auction fever drives prices to ridiculous levels (K3+ chips for $100 when Tigerdirect had them for about $50.), you get to hold the item until you have the cash in hand, you can charge "handling" costs without specifying them in the auction, you can ship doa goods and withhold feedback to punish any complaints and you can deny ever receiving payment. At least that is what I have run across in about forty-odd transactions. Ebay admin is really biased toward the sellers (after all, they pay the listing charges which are Ebay`s source of revenue) but will kick a seller off if you can incontrovertibly prove fraud.
That being said, you can occasionally do well as a buyer; a lot of people are honest and not out to take advantage. I have found though, that payments need to be sent delivery-confirmed (4 "missing" payments before switching to this method, none after). Anything listed as untested is ninety-nine percent likely to be dead. Never buy without exact shipping costs before hand; one guy wanted $21 bucks to ship a $3.50 cable! Fifty percent of the HDD I`ve bought were dead - damage in shipment?
I still cruise Ebay for hard to find items, but otherwise shop locally because in the long run, it`s cheaper and safer.
And I do apologize to the majority who are honest sellers who do not deserve to be categorized with the group I`ve described above. I just wish I could figure out how to identify you with certainty before I bid.

Never had problems at E-Bay, well, excepect for a couple times when the item was late in coming. An e mail got it cleared up right away. I have had a memory stick show up in just a sandwich baggie in a Elcheapo lightly padded envolpe. Got lucky, the memory was good, it's in the kids machine right now.Other then that, It's been smooth sailing for me at E-Bay. Planning to start selling my old computer parts this month, lol running out of storage room. Cheers!

Cedar, never had anyone say they didn't recive my payments, I have a couple sellers I deal with alot and with them, I get my goods as soon as I win the auction. I settle my accounts with them once a month. I have excellent feedback there {mrmadfish98 @Ebay}Guess I could say I ben darn lucky then. Cheers!

Sounds like it's alot better to be a seller than a buyer. I guess it's time to whip out the camera and take some pictures of my junk.
