I have a home computer that is pretty beefy. I am not a programmer or system admin but I have enough knowledge to spec the machine below. I don't have a lot of exp with Win2k or raid setups, and my machine is running somewhat slower than when I first got it. Specs are..
866 Pent III Xeon, 4 - 9 gig 160 scsi hd - adaptec raidport with 64 meg rdrimm - 256meg rdrimm memory - geforceII 64 meg card -
its got an IBM mobo 133 frontside bus Dell 620 workstation custom built by Dell about 6 months old. The current raid setup is 5. Anyone have any suggestions on how to bring this animal back to the trough? Thanks http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Disable services you aren't using. IIS is one you can start with

I'll stick with tweaking by software. so here's a few.

Setup your swap file to another drive beside the the one with windows in it.

Clean the registy yet? use a program to do it.

Is the role of the computer set as "network server" ? this will use the ram more effiectly.

And like Obsolete said, most of those program shown on the taskbar and those that are running behind windows aren't needed.

can't think of anymore.
