Intel - any Asus Intel based board. Currently the P4PE.

AMD - either the Asus A7N8X or the Epox 8RDA+

If you prefer VIA for AMD, the Epox KT400s are da schitt. ;)

...AND LAY OFF THE CAPS!

Hey Bipolar, tell me this: If the Asus P4PE is so great how come it claims RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 0+1 support but, (not counting serial ATA), comes with, only one RAID IDE port on the board?

The manual clearly states that in order to enable RAID, both hard drives have to be set as Master. How can you do this using only one IDE channel? :x

Serial ATA is not an option because there are no drives available yet using this technology.

So in other words, this board has NO RAID SUPPORT WHATSOEVER.

I just bought this board and in my mind it is one of the most STUPIDLY DESIGNED BOARDS EVER! :(

Maybe I'm wrong, but have you ever used this drive using RAID 0 with two regular drives? If so, how?

I just went thru 2 days worth of forums,, looking for solved issues I have with my Asus A7N266-VM,,, all I saw in 2 days was people looking to solve all kinds of problems with the Asus A7N8X,,,This board seems to be a disaster just like the A7N266-VM,,, Ok so I'm down on Asus right now,, but I have good reason to be,,There is no support from Asus either,, 3 weeks now with dead boards and no replies. All the RMA does is give you an identical piece of junk, when you already have junk.

The rest of the board rocks.

Stabilty? I have a "server" with a SCSI card, 15K IBM SCSI drive and a WD400BB running on an ECS K7S5A (one of the most feared motherboards in all of SysOptLand). It's as stable as anything else I have.

If you have no features, you can't overclock and mess things up. You can get the same results by resisting temptation on a fully-featured motherboard like the P4PE.
