just upgraded a pc on a lan and when i came to install the chipset and graphic card drivers (cd) i installed a cd-rom drive which is detected at start up however when it boots in to windows 95 i go in to my computer and there is no cd-rom drive available?i have done this with my eyes closed in the past with minimal effort and trouble but this little gem has got the better of me!!any one got any ideas for me??
p.s
all the cables are firmly and correctly in and remember it shows it at bios,mobo in mind is a biostar m7vkb(amd 750 cpu)

Not sure if it still applies or not, but read at the Plextor site that there was a known issue with VIA chipset drivers and IDE CDROMS/burners. They suggested that you use the default windows drivers instead, and said that you should visit the VIA website for instructions on how to remove the VIA chipset IDE drivers. That may apply here as well. Again, not sure if this has been resolved by VIA or not, but it might give you a place to begin looking.

Install the Bus Master Ide Controller that came with your Mobo. If you have an Intel
chipset then install the Intel BM Ide controller.
Do you have any yellow marks in ide controller under device manager. If so
edit the registry and delete the "no ide ........" line in HKLM/System/Current control Set/Services/VXD/IO
