Can someone give me the links? Benssax 01-24-2003, 08:06 PM Have to get a 9500 regular not Pro. Benssax 01-24-2003, 08:08 PM I would do the software mod. It tested better anway.;) http://www.maxdownloads.com/~ian/wizzard/ fizur2002 01-24-2003, 08:17 PM What is a good price for a ATI 9500 pro? I would like to get one of these, instead of what i currently have and that is a GF2 TI Benssax 01-24-2003, 08:20 PM Originally posted by fizur2002 ATI 9500 pro? I wouldn't get that card. Get the ATI 9500 (Regular) or the mod wont work. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=ATI+9500+128mb ITS $159. Not in stock though Benssax 01-24-2003, 08:23 PM ATI 9500 Regular http://images2.newegg.com/productimage/14-102-252-08.JPG ATI 9500 Pro http://images2.newegg.com/productimage/14-102-256-05.JPG As you can see the 9500 regular looks like the 9700 because it is a 9700. See why the 9500 pro cant use the mod.:t fizur2002 01-24-2003, 08:39 PM what are the differences between the 9500 and the 9500 pro? Rugor 01-24-2003, 08:40 PM A 9500 (non pro) is a 9700 with half the pipelines disabled, along with two 64 bit memory controllers. This means there are ways, both in hardware and software, to re-enable those pipelines. However, it's a mixed bag as some, not all, 9500's have malfunctioning pipelines. Please note this only works on the 128mb models as the 64mb models don't have any RAM chips physically connected to the extra pipes. You pay your money and take the gamble. A 9500 Pro uses the same core but has a physical 128 bit memory bus. As has been said before it CANNOT be modified to a 9700, it doesn't have enough memory traces. fizur2002 01-24-2003, 08:47 PM I dont know if i want to chance getting a bad egg, what are my chances of flashing it to a 9700? AlexGee 01-24-2003, 09:36 PM I did this mod and it worked fizur, so did Mr Miyagi, another member here, neither of us saw any abnormalities but lots of people get strange artifacts, typically checkerboards, after modding and there is no certain fix if this happens other than reverting back to a 9500. What are the odds? I don't think this is known at this point. From what I have heard, and I have studied the forums pretty closely, I'd say between 30 and 50% have artifacts to one degree or another. The safest way to get a cheap 9700 Pro is to buy a 9700 non-pro and then overclock it to 9700 pro speeds. This you do by flashing the BIOS because the stock ATI BIOS does not allow over clocking. I've seen 9700's on sale for $230 or so. If I was worried about the mod that's what I would do. We have a thread going on this topic already here; http://www.sysopt.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=127674 In there you'll find all the links you need to study the situation closely. PS The mod to 9700 pro is a two step process. First a software mod or a hardware mod to turn the card into a 9700 and then a BIOS falsh to turn it into a 9700 pro. That's a simplification, read the whole thread for the detailed ver. PS PS I did both the soft and the hard mod and both yielded identical results for me. I much prefer the hard mod because then you can use any drivers you want at any time in the life of the card. fizur2002 01-27-2003, 01:02 AM Im just going to stay on the safe side and get a 9500 pro, i dont feel like dishing out the cash and then it bombing out on me, dont want to take the chance, cant afford it.
