hi
I have a compaq presario 7100 and i cant figure out how to get into the bios. I have tried pressing all different buttons on startup delete, F12, and others. Anyone know how to get in?

thanx, another problem

when i enter the bios, i go to every screen on every tab and i cant find the thing where you change the multiplier to overclock the cpu speed. how do u unlock it if its locked... thanx in advance

you wont find that in a compaq bios. They don't want you doing that .

So theres no possible way to overclock compaq? Is there anything i can change (software or hardware) so i can overclock?

Compaq BIOS is tweaked for Compaqs (proprietory), Like Bush said "they don't want you doing that".

in basic simple words

NON :D

if you can find the Exact model of the Mobo

you can Flash the ROM with a 3rd party ROM

then you'll be able to do it

but if you do that, you'll void your Warranty

Try looking for the manual online, it may talk about the board's jumper settings.

You may find the jumper settings, but there is NO adjustable vCore voltage so you will only get minimal overclocking out of a Compaq.

DO NOT flash another companies BIOS onto a Compaq motherboard. That is the quickest way to turn your computer into a boat anchor.

Heh,heh, now that's not a half bad idea. Problem there is it would rust to nothing in a week.
