I'm a bit confused here...
I have a cable connection, and I'm gonna soon buy a TV Card. The problem that I have is the following:

WHERE do I have to split the cable that currently goes to the Cable Modem?

I explain the connection I have:

Cable comes from the road into the house. There, the ISP has put a Network Unit Interface (NUI) that supports Internet, phone, and some other stuff through Cable. Then, a cable from the NUI data slot is going into the Cable Modem, and the Cable Modem is finally connected to my Network Card.

Now, can I split this cable from the NUI to the Cable Modem and watch TV, or do I need to bring a "normal" cable BEFORE the NUI?

I hope it is clear what I mean... I contacted my ISP, but I still haven't got any news from them...

Thanks a lot.

You *should* be able to split it after the NUI and before the cable modem. Of course it's going to depend on exactly how the NUI is passing the data through. I would suspect the NUI is not doing much but adding some alternate type connections to the line. It's probably passing data straight through on the coaxil.

I have no NUI gizmo on my setup. Cable comes right into the modem. I've split it right before the modem and run a line into my TV card, works great.

I have no NUI either but you should split
the cable that goes to your TV the NUI might filter out the TV signal for your modem so
that might not work.

Thanks for the quick replies!

An idea came to my mind. I'm gonna test the cable that goes out of the NUI on a TV. If it works, then no filtering takes place. Otherwise I'll have to draw a cable from upstairs which can be painful...

In any case, do you know what kind of splitter I am supposed to buy? Cause the end of the cable looks more like Satellite cable, not TV cable...

Thanks again!

You've got the right idea about testing the
cable,it may or may not be filtered. On the
splitter most standard splitters are rated
5mhz-1000mhz some older ones only go up to
around 500mhz,I use one from Radio Shack, works fine.
