I have a sound blaster Live! card, not even the value one, and it has been a great soundcard, untill I got home today and my computer refused to boot with it in the slot (any slot). Everything else works fine, as long as the card is out. I have a few questions about it though. First, the digital out plug is heavly corroded, as if much electricity was passing through it, or a frequent stream was, but I have never even touched the plug. Next, of the four analougue plugs, only one has a metal cover, is this normal? What is the cover for? If it is normal, why am I only protecting the microphone? Last, the digital audio plug was bent up slightly when I got it, could it have something to do with manufacturing, or is it likely that only a person would do that? Last, any time I plugged something into the line in plug that was not an input, it locked up the machine (I acidently pluged in my speakers once). Could all of these things be from a poor manufacturing process, or might I have recieved a used card?

From your post you write as if you heard the card in another system,... "and it has been a great soundcard, untill..."

Then go on the asked might it be a used card.

In any event return the card.

Good Luck
