Okay, I am still learning about computers and have a decent knowledge base .... I think. I get very frustrated at times... lol.
I can not find any concrete information as to whether I can get either one of my AMD athalons to work on this board. I called the abit company and they assured me that the fastest cpu I could put on this would be a 1.2ghz. They also said that it would only support up to a 1.2 if I flashed the bios. I almost threw in the towel with this board at this point because I paid more for the cpu's than I did for the board. But then I heard that the kt7a raid could be flashed to support a higher speed cpu.
I have one that says it's an AMD athalon xp 2100 (I thought it was a 2100 speed, but I read somewhere that it was actually only a 1700 speed.... anyone know for sure which it is??)
I also have another AMD athalon xp 1800 (what is the actual speed of this cpu? I am assuming it is 1800mhz / 1.8 ghz, but if my xp 2100 is only a 1700... I am unsure as to the xp 1800) Can I get either one of these cpu's to work on this board without causing any instability problems or do any damage. I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!:t

Athlon XP1800 = 1.53Ghz
Athlon XP2100 = 1.73Ghz

I couldn't get to Abits website, but I found some reviews that stated the KT7A -RAID had support up to 1.2Ghz (original) Athlon. I don't think this board is going to support the Athlon XP's, you may want to try the Abit website and see what the "official" processor support is, but I'm thinking that since the Abit people said 1.2Ghz you aren't going to get any of your XP's working on this board.

Two nice chips you got there, shame to try to underclock them when there a few cheapish mobo's out there that will let them perform at their best.

If you were running at 1200 before you will notice the improvement with both these chips.
