I know I wont be able to afford it but hopefully the price of a Radeon 9500 will fall.

The prototypes all used two slots - one for the card and one for the cooler. :(

Well, my nf2 board that just came in has integrated everything-- firewire, nic, 6x USB 2.0, 5.1 sound.... the only expansion card is the modem :p and the risers for the firewire/game ports take up two other back slots. Perfect for the massive, high-heat-production top-of-the-line two-slot FX! :p I may even have to increase the speed of the exhaust fan.

Is there even any game needs a gfx this good to play it?

BipolarBill

From what I've heard, Grand Theft Auto needs all the juice that it can get. DooM III , while it won't "need" it, will run really nice with that sort of horsepower.

Will DOOM III come out this year? Or maybe that will be a secret surprise you get for buying a geforcefx!

It should be out in 2 months at the most.

might be surprising but GTA 3 runs at full rez on a GF4 TI 4200 and smooth.

2 months!, plenty of time to beg the wife for a comp that can push that thing.

I wonder if a geforce2mx400 could run it somewhat decent. What are the system requirements

I 'm saving up for a radeon 9500 and do the software hack and then I'll think I will be able to play it pretty good.

The GeForce 2 MX 400 (64mb version) isn't that bad.. if you overclock it quite well, you might be able to get away with 30-40 FPS, but only when antialiasing and anisotropic filtering are disabled.

But recent suspicions of the R300 pushing 60FPS in 640x480 make me wonder

Peek: This is one of those games which takes your computer and just shoves it into obselence. Last I heard the recommended was a 2.2 ghz cpu, 1 gig of RAM, and the biggest baddest video card you can find. I'm guessing those recommendeds aren't even for high resolutions, you'd probably need to be pissing around 3 Ghz to get up in the higher resolutions with the G FX being everything it's touted to be to get full effects.

With no demo available though and the only one out being an alpha, there really is no real data that I know of. Game sites should be doing reviews of it soon I'd imagine if it's due to be out in 2 or 3 months.

So much for the Geforce FX. It's faster, but not by all that much when compared to a 9700pro. I downloaded the mp3's of the sound tests and it's whiny and noisier than a vantec tornado, and it seemed to sound like it was making the entire case resonate from the vibration, which cant be good for the agp riser or motherboard. Oh and the GPU is running at 68c + when under load, Looks like one to skip. Wonder what ATI is doing next.

And for the things you would buy a card like this for (high res AA and AF) it isn't faster, it's slower that the 9700 pro!:r :r What a loser this card seems to be. I'll bet u a few thousand advanced orders were just canceled today. Nvidia fans better get down on their knees and PRAY there is a driver fix for the 'dustbuster'. As it is the card belongs in a display case along side the Edsel and the Vodoo 5. Why would ANYBODY pay MORE for this POS white noising case heater? Seriously, why?
