Hi yall
I've got a small network (4 stations) with one of them offering DSL (from a USB modem and from my telephone cable). I want to share my DSL internet connection with the other group... I know how to do that but the thing I'm woundering is, do Routers with an input for RJ11 OR USB (probably USB in my case) exist? and if so, could anyone suggest a site that SHOWS the router so I can have proof...
I you guys don't understand, here's my actual setup... I've got my phone line plugging in my USB DSL Modem, which is connected to my USB port... I want to share that so I figure I need a router... anyway, help is needed cause I'm stomped...
thanks

There are certainly tons of options out there for you - I'd look at things like the LinkSys Etherfast Cable/DSL router.
Here's the marketing fluff from Linksys, and the link after that to look at the product:
--
Built-In 10/100 Port!
Supports up to 253 Users!
The Linksys EtherFast® Cable/DSL Router is the perfect option to connect multiple PCs to a high-speed Broadband Internet connection or to an Ethernet back-bone. Allowing up to 253 users, the built-in NAT technology acts as a firewall protecting your internal network.
Configurable as a DHCP server for your existing network, the EtherFast® Cable/DSL Router acts as the only externally recognized Internet device on your local area network (LAN). The router can also be configured to block internal users' access to the Internet.
Not only will all of your PCs now be able to enjoy your lightning-fast Broadband Internet connection, they will also be able to share internal network data. With the dual-function speed and power of the EtherFast® Cable/DSL Router, your network will take off at speeds faster than you ever imagined possible.

LinkSys is easy stuff to configure, but others on this list might have another favorite. Whether linksys or not, they also have versions of this product that will allow for wireless as well as wired connections.
Have fun!

That didn't answer my question at all

you would either need to use ICS from one of the computers or get a modem with an ethernet port. The Linksys routers won't work with usb. I haven't seen any brand that can.
you probably want to just replace the modem, or see if you isp will trade you for one with an RJ45 port.
usb isn't that great to begin with. :(

My appologies - I thought you were saying that the Modem had a USB access port, and also had RJ-45 (which is how you were curretnly connecting one machine).
I know I read quite a bit into your statment - sorry for making assumptions.

Don't sweat it. I misread things all the time. Nobody's perfect. :)

Hey don't worry man! I've asked my question to about 25 people around me and a lot didn't understand at all what I was asking them...
:p
Another option would be an RJ-45 to USB converter, then you could plug the modem into a normal router. I'm not sure what kind of USB end you have that plugs into the modem, but heres a pic of a Linksys converter.

He would need a usb to RJ45, not RJ45 to usb. The modem has a usb out, but he would need an RJ45 to connect to a router.

i've seen those and that works
but is kinda expensive
but it still beats using a PC to share the internet over the router as the switch :D
so it's definitely a Must get item ;)
He would need a usb to RJ45, not RJ45 to usb. The modem has a usb out, but he would need an RJ45 to connect to a router.
It should be bi-directional, as long as he can get it plugged into the modem he can plug the RJ-45 into the WAN port on a router.
