If I am going to format both my computers. Athlon 900 and Pentium 166MMX. What OS should i use on both machines? If I'm still wanto share network and what is best OS for the system. I mainly use the new comp to play games, do homeworks, and etc. While the old comp is only for web surfing. Do u guys use any tweak files to improve performance ? What program u guys actually install if u just format a computer?

I'd put the newer os in the newer comp and older in older. ME isn't much use in an old computer since it's quite hungry for resources.
To a fresh computer? Fixit utils and winamp =)
As for tweaking, I haven't found much tweak in my system by using the utils. Thus if everything's running as they should why bother?

Me is still pretty flakey, (it sucks!) I would wait for the next release..

I would go with Win98SE, as been said here, ME still (and will be) buggy, and resources hungry, thus not offering very much improvement.
I use Winboost 2001 GOLD (http://www.magellass.com) and Cacheman 4.1 (http://wwww.outertech.com) to tweak my system performance to it's best (and using Win98SE http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif )

I'll go against the grain, and say ME. I've had it installed on my wife's PC for about 6 months. Been rock stable since day 1. Never had a problem with it & it's compatible with all software I've thrown at it.

Firstly, the site is www.outertech.com (http://www.outertech.com)
Now, I am the person who formats the computer when there is a problem, fine... but I'll tell you this... I started off with 98SE, problem came... slow boot up...fine... I re-formatted to ME... Guess WHAT!? IT went crazy.... I re-formatted... ME again... I thought maybe I messed up on my part... SAME THING! Re-format to 98SE NOT ONE CRASH SINCE!
