I am using a geforce2 ti, and i just recently installed DX9. I got a really weird error. When i was doing all my benchmarking, the screen went blank and a little green box appeared and said "Attention out of range", and the screen thingy was at .3khz horizontal and 55.3hz vertical. When it went to the DX9 tests, i could see everything perfectly, any DX before that it did that little screen. Is there anything i can do to fix the problem, besides putting DX8 back on my system?

...erm, wait for DX 9.1?

If its a oroblem with DX itself i doubt theres really a great deal you can do yourself

Best bang for buck is the 128mb ti4200, as it will easily overclock to ti4400 and beyond speeds. However if money is no object why not get the fastest of the bunc the ti4600 and ramp up theclocks on it for rather good performance

how much is the 4600 usually running at? Do you shop at Frys Electronics?

THAT IS NOT!!!! a DIRECT X problem

that means your MONITOR or video card had problem working at that Speed at the Resolution it tried to test it on

so, my suggestion, check your Monitor Spec or manual, and check that the drivers has been set back to default

should i turn down the refresh rate from 85hz down to like 75? would that help out any at all? My monitor is an Envision 910-e if that helps out at all.

I agree with allgamer.

When DX9 went to run a test at a certain resolution and refreash rate the monitor gave the Out of Range error.

You can specify refresh rates using windows and several 3rd party utilities. I think nVidias new drivers come with a tab that allows you to set the refresh rate for each resolution.

I have DX9 and nVIdia Riva TNT2 Card. I also have Win2K pro and use rivatuner to mess with my settings.

DX9 should work fine if you set your refresh rates. You should not need to go back to DX8.1

Get out the manual of you monitor or look online and get its sepcs and set the driver to use those specs and you should eliminate the problem.

Agree in all :t

I do also have DX 9 installed in a whole bunch of old TNT / Riva and TNT2s

with the latest "beta" nVidia drivers

and they all work just fine, and they do complete the tests in 3DMarks2001

with horrible scores, but at least it proves they do work :p

so yeah Get your Monitor informations handy and make sure they are working as suppose to

BUT!!!! here's a tip, Some monitor/manual althought says something

in Real life it might not support it, cuz it might be just .03 hz off

LIKE THE ERROR MESSAGE YOUR GOT ;)

so if that's true, just Adjust the Refresh Rate for the Resolution to be like

instead of 85hz to 75hz or if you want to be exact

instead of 85 hz to 81.7 hz :D ;)

i tried adjusting the refresh rate and it still didnt work. Then i started to get some very very very severe tearing throught the entire screen. I reinstalled windows and dx8.1 and ran the 3dmark again, got about half way through the test and i got that message again.

Then i had a thought, do you think that overclocking a gainward card could have damaged it? or do you think that its just getting a little too hot for it to work at all?
