im running a Sound Blaster PCI 128 on an AMD motherboard
with windows XPmy sound is fine except when my computer is processing anything (EG. opening my computer or ANYTHING)
i have installed the sound card drivers
i have installed 4 in 1 drivers which appeared to do nothing
my mother board drivers which are on the driver CD are 98 based and conflict with my OS

the model number is EP-7KXA

if anyone knows where i cant get the motherboard drivers or how to get it working it would be greatly appreciated

I suspect a large part of your problem is the result of trying to find/use "Asus" motherboard drivers for an EPoX mother board.

This might be a good place to start:
EPoX (http://www.epox.com)

From this page, click on "Support" and navigate to the "Drivers" link for motherboards, and then the pulldown menu list of motherboards on the next page. You'll be able to obtain the mobo manual, BIOS updates, drivers, tech specs, etc.

Asus? Epox??? Haha, too funny. Don't fret. I'd be willing to bet it is the SB PCI 128. I used to have one also, keywords: USED TO. Nothing but distorted sound, crackling and such. Brutal. Although, it was on a VIA chipset mobo, so I can't say I hadn't been warned... After back and forth on my part I finally just bought a new sound card(Audigy2) and I'm glad I did. But I'm aware not everyone has $100 at their disposal, so you mite want to try changing the PCI latency to 64 or 128 if you can (bios). It is probably at 0 or 33 by default. One more thing: I put the SB PCI 128 in an older Sony Slimtop around here with an Intel 440bx mobo, and guess what. No more sound problems... hmmm, makes ya wonder...:x

I'd be willing to bet you need George Breeze's PCI Latency Patch.
