Considering the DDR is PC2100 type and SDRAM is the PC133 or the better PC150 type?
What chipsets do u think work best with DDR?
IS DDR worth the extra buxs if i already have 256MB of PC150 SDRAM?
thanks

Personally at this time...Nope the performance you would likely see will be measure in mili-seconds.

There is no doubting that DDR SDRAM PC2100 (266Mhz) is much faster than SDR SDRAM at PC133 or PC150, or even PC166, but the processors that use DDR SDRAM (P3 and Athlon) were built to make up for RAM speed deficiency that was there when they all first came out. RAM speeds lingered between 66Mhz and 133Mhz, a speed that doubled, while processors went from 66Mhz to 1.33Ghz, which is 20x as fast. Instead of waiting around for RAM speeds to raise, processor manufactures made ways of avoiding the RAM, such as large caches and code to increase the cache hit rate.
Until a new generation of processors, we will not see any huge improvements from DDR SDRAM. The only processor that benifits from super high speed RAM now is the P4, but that already has Dual-channel RDRAM, which I'm pretty sure can handle its own against any other type of RAM out right now.

I say it can't hurt...
prices for DDR PC2100 are not much more than PC133.. (if you don't get generic PC133)
Perhaps 10% better performance on some benchmarks.. i don't see how you could go wrong..
AMD760 is the best DDR chipset IMHO..

i understand from your opinions that it is a promising thing for the future.... but what about now.... i want to buy a board for my TBird 1.33ghz 266fsb.. should i get a DDR board and go with ddr memory or should i just go with the 256mb of pc150 i have and get a regular board???
is the only time the actual benefit comes out.... in the future... when i upgrade on the same board to faster processor????
if i get a choice today should i spend more for ddr board and ram or just go witha regular board and use the pc150 i already have???

what all board are available now that support both SDRAM (for use now) and DDR memory (i know a few that do) and has RAID and all the stuff and also has a good chipset..... And also what company is usually good at providing very useful BIOS upgrades.... for later when better processors and fatser memory come out and i want to use the same board???
thanks
