I have easy cd 4 and win on cd 3.7 and I can get hold of Nero 5 if need be. Can any of these progs copy write protected cds? (Only for back-up of course). Or maybe there is another prog that I can get.
Any Ideas?
Thanks

I may be mistaken (I'm sure I'll be corrected if so http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif... but I thought that you could just make an image of the whole CD, and then burn that image onto a blank CD....

I also thought that you can use easy CD to do it!

your best bet for copying write protected cd's is clone cd.
get it here.
http://www.elby.de/CloneCD/english/

i hear cdrwin is good as well but i never used it. good luck.

Thanks for that . I have just visited the clone cd site and clicked on the download button but the link seems to be "dead".
I have also tried to download another copying programme at www.blindwrite.com (http://www.blindwrite.com) with the same problem!!.
guess it must be my browser having problems.
(I click the link and the download does not commence)
Any ideas on this one?

Try a right-click and then from the menu chose "save link as" (Netscape) or "Save Target as..." (IE)

They are coming out with tougher protection these days on games in general(safedisc 2 for example), so in order to make backups its
kinda tuff to use ezcd creator and nero.
if they make it easy wouldnt all the companies that make games go to ****???
think about it. take it easy.

Often Copy-Protection is as simple as deliberately marking specific clusters on the game CD as "Bad" and then checking for them whenever you run the game itself. In such cases, bit-for-bit copying is the only way to go. Other times the size of the game CD is the culpret. People couldn't burn a copy of C&C Tiberian Sun for the longest time after it came out becasue 700MB CD-R were not common-place yet.

CloneCD! -for legitimate backup only, of course.

Your CD record/read device must also be capable of reading sub-chanel data. Be sure to read all the information about CloneCD before you start. I have also noticed that some games will have to be installed from the copied disk in order to be played from it.

CD Clone is great IF you purchase it. The shareware demo that you can download really bites! Limits burning to 2x, that sucks.

Personally I like NTI CD Maker. http://www.nticdmaker.com/index.cfm

hmmm...

I use Nero and CDRWin as an alternative way of copying. I never faced problems up to now... But CloneCD is good anyway. Nevertheless, my vote goes to Nero.

Get BlindRead and BlindWrite and read your original CD on your burner then burn the CDR with the image that BlindRead made for you !
http://www.blindwrite.com/

It is better that Nero 5 I know I tried!

thanks to you all for replying. Outpatient if you e-mail me I can get around the registration problem for clone. Clone works occasionally for me but too often Explorer stops responding which means I have to re-boot and then allI get is a Fresh Coaster. This **** game only cost £20 and its causing me so many headaches. Keep tryin tho!!
