k, this ones simple, i got this thing up and running i hve 3 fire wire ports, that came on the mobo, and anyways i hook my net up and it says its bridged with my nic and my fire wire, for a connection of 400MB/sec.... :|
ummmm how? what does it matter if i havefirewire in my comp, i'm using a cat-5 cable to hook up to my cable modem yet i'm getting a greater bandwitdh to the net???
oh yes and anther quick on, when i boot up it says i have S.M.A.R.T on my hard drive but its disabled???? how do i change that and do i want to change that??
i have a 40 gig 7200 rmp wd 2 meg catch
and the giga-byte kt400 with raid board.

in BIOS...you should be able to enable it there.

You can use Firewire for peer-to-peer networking, but I don't think that you should bridge the NIC and 1394 port.

i'll check my bios out in a few, but the bridge was done bye xp on its won, i didnt set anything up... i wish i had a place to up load picture cause i think its quite odd, the 2 other net work places have no ip except the bridge and it says its connected at 400MB/sec...... seems to work fine.... so i dont know if i should play with it.

K, i'll leave it, but i still cant find ANYTHING about smart in my bios.... and i read the kt400 dont ahve ram timings either, witch sucks..... so i downlaoded sandra to see what my cl was at..... and it doesnt even read what type of ram i have... i knwo there crucial pc2400 cl 2.5 and pc2100 cl2.... but i want to know what there running at cause i just changed my fsb to 133......... hmmmmm
