Getting a loud hissing noise in between songs. What would be causing this? I have had 4 CD's now that have this loud quick Hissing noise in between songs. I am doing a copy to copy burn using the software that came with the rewriter which is "Sony CD Extreme" copying at 8x:
CD Writer-Sony 8x/4x/32x.
CD-rom is a Creative 52x
Athlon 850
256 ram
Win. 98 SE
Using TDK 16x CD-R's.

Some cd players don't like cds which were burned a 8x speed. Try using 6x or 4x and see if that helps. I'm not sure if it's a burner problem or a player problem which causes this.

downloaded Clone Cd and tried it at 4x...the disk wouldn't even play afterwords. When I got the rewriter it came with a Sony CD-r. I did a quick write to it and it plays perfectly. I get these TDK's and I haven't had much luck. I have had 2 that came out ok, but 4 that sound like **** between songs. It's like it isn't recording the spaces so I get a loud Hiss or something irritating.

Can you make an audio CD with that programme, I found that with Nero you get better quality by simply dragging and dropping off of a CD instead of a copy to copy one. Also I found if I put the CDROM down to 20X intead of 40X they sound clearer. It's a good idea to try lot's of different kinds of CD's too. The burner we got loves Verbatim for everything, hates Kodak, but only likes TDK for music. I got a mate who uses nothing but Kodak and has great success with them.

Clone CD didn't copy any music. Burned the cd and destroyed it? Went back to the software that came with the writer. How do you put the CDROM down to 20x? I can set the read from MAX,MED,LOW. That's all I found. I also can set the write to 8x/4x/2x.
Just tried another couple at 4x but left the read at Max and got one hiccup in the middle of one cd where it sounded like it reverted back to a previous track for a second then continued on. The Sony CD worked excellent. Think I will pick up some Sony's and try them. ????????

It sounds like your sony burner doesn't like non-sony cds. At least it seem that way for music. Sony CDRW, Sony CDs, anybody see a pattern?
