I have done this before but now it doesn't want to work. routing my network through one computer out to the internet. I was using Wingate and it worked fine, but now it wont after I changed NIC cards. I have gotten AnalogX to work, but won't work with all the programs. Is there something I am missing. I set every thing back the same and my network in the house works excellent. Even from the cliet CPU I can't ping the host server (internet), but can get to the internet? Maybe I have a ghost in my machine. Is there another program that will help this work that is pretty simple? Thanks for any help my way.

What OS are you running?
Win98SE/2K/XP all have ICS built in (Internet Connection Sharing).

Running XP Professional. I tried to set up the XP sharing, but it says that hardware or software is running 192.168.0.1 and that is the only internal IP it will let me use. How do you find the one that is being used and remove it or can you? I have read the article that you showed the link to, thats how I got AnalogX. Any other Ideas.

Why do you need to use another IP? Windows ICS acts as a DHCP server for the client.

with the internal setup with XP, it says it needs that IP, and it won't let you modify it to anything else. Is there a way to find what is using that, I can't seem to find it and remove it.

Listen:
To use ICS and broadband, you need 2 NICs on the host machine. When you set up ICS, you select the external and internal NIC. The external NIC is set to automatically obtain an IP and the internal gets that fixed IP that you mention. The client then is set to obtain an IP from ICS through the internal NIC.
That's the way it must be.
Now - why do you need to change the IP?

I have 1 actual nic in the host the other so called nic is the ADSL modem which plugs into the computer via USB. My network between my actual installed nic in each computer works and I can get Analog X to work with the client to get out to the internet, but it won't let me use all programs. The reason I need that specific IP is that WINXP wants to use it to set up the routing to the internet and won't let me use anything else. I have 192.168.10 on the host and 192.168.20 on the client and it works fine, but won't let me set up the route to the internet.

The problem is the USB modem. You should really switch to 100% Ethernet. Does the modem have an RJ-45 port?

You must use 192.168.0.1 for your nic not connected to the internet. There is no other option.
Why don't you just get a router? They aren't that expensive. You wouldn't need to have both computers on for the second computer to connect to the internet. You can select the IP range you want for the systems also.

For internal setup with ICS under XP it says I have to use 192.168.0.1 and won't let me modify it at all. I have a hub set up with my internal network, and fast acces dsl from bellsouth uses the phone line and a USB hookup. how would you use that and and a router or is pretty easy?

The DSL modem has an RJ-45 port, right? Run a patch cable from there to your router and another from the router to each PC. Set your NICs to automatically obtain an IP. In the router config, set up your SWBell username and password in the PPoE setup. That's it.
Let me say this one more time:
ICS uses that IP, period. It assigns an address to the other PC. Why do you want to change this?

Hey guys, I finally got it to work again. I uninstalled my Linksys nic on the host and reenstalled it with the network wizard and then took the set up disk it had me create to the client and it set it up all fine this time. I apprecieat all the help. And just to let you know, my dsl doesn't have a RJ45 connect to it. Just USB to the phone clip in. Weird I know. Again thanks.
