Can anyone out there tell me where I can find great deals (prices) for high speed Delta/Tornado fans. I would really like to keep my system VERY cool (cold, I should say).

They're not that expensive, but frozenCPU.com, 1coolpc and newegg seem to offer the best prices on them.

Same exact thing as the Tornado - $10 :)

Next step in the evolutionary progress -- 6000 RPM 80mm's. :x

You are aware, I trust, just how miserably loud the Delta fan is?!

Mine is audible all over the house, and it's all the more annoying because the MB varies the fan speed up and down as the processor demand warrants.

Of course, I've had this computer on for over an hour, and the Via Hardware Monitor program is reporting a CPU temperature of 75 Fahrenheit. Part of this is due to a big Thermalright cooler with Arctic Silver properly applied, but the fan certainly contributes. So there is some benefit to offset the god-awful noise. But you should know what you're facing if you purchase the Delta.

Please don't tell me you plugged a Delta into the motherboard fan header.

Poof goes the motherboard! :p

Sure...why not? Soyo K7VTA + Delta has been running without incident for well over a year. Are you under the impression that the Delta's power requirements are excessive for the MB fan connection?

Art There have been many motherboards damaged by high wattage fans plugged into the fan header on some motherboards. Perhaps the motherboard manufacturers have wised up and are placing heavy duty circuit traces on their boards now...maybe you got lucky with a board that will stand the current drain for a high speed/wattage fan...lotsa people were not that fortunate.

Yes, it's generally not a good practice to plug in fans that demand >0.4A into the motherboard. It has so many other devices to power, anyway. Why demand more from the 12v/5v rails there? It can only lead to more problems, even if the motherboard's traces are up to the task and don't melt...

Yes. It's the exact same thing as the Vantec tornado, which is comparable to the 80 x 38mm delta. :p
