App for creating DFD's and HDS

Does anyone know of an shareware/freeware app that can easily create Data Flow Diagrams, and Hierarchical Data Structures (Flowcharts!).

Something like Visio but without being a M$ product!!!! I have used Chartist in the past, but find it awkward.
