Hi,

I got a copy of windows 2000 Pro with my PC and the CD volume label (the name shown next to the CD when you put it in your PC) is W2POEM_EN.

I figure this stands for Windows 2000 Pro OEM version in the English language, hence W2P + OEM + EN = W2POEM_EN.

However, I Got a noter copy of win 2000 pro from a friend and his CD is labelled W2PIS_EN. On checking the CD I notice their size (i.e. number of files and folders) is almost exactly the same except for a few bytes difference.

So just out of interest, anyone know whats the difference between them?

Your CD has one more character in the name. :D

I believe the difference is the OS itself. On the OEM CD it may not have the service packs so after Win2k is installed you must install SP1, 2, or 3

On the PIS CD I believe the Service Packs are integrated into the 2000 install so they do not need to be installed seperatly from windows 2000.
