Okay, i just built this computer out of parts I had aying around and a new DVD Drive...here are the specs:

intel Pentium III - 800 MHz
ECS P6IWP-Fe motherboard
256 MB SDRAM PC100, slightly o/c to PC133 :)
40 GB Maxtor HDD...yay Maxtor
8x/4x/32x CD-RW
16x/48x DVD
Windows 2000 Pro w/ SP3
Floppy drive
external floppy drive
external 48x CD-Rom drive
1394 Firewire card 3 ext, 1 int.
USB 1.1

.........

My temps with open case:

28 C- CPU temp
28 C- Case temp

my temps with closed case:

35 C- CPU temp
33 C- case temp
39 C- HSF stopped (CPU temp)

what are your temps?
open case, closed, cpu temps....

word of advice is, do not stop your hsf.....

my fan stopped and fried my pii 1ghz, which is currently residing in my freezer until the day we have the technology to revive it.

You got a pentium and they run way cooler than the athlons, my pii667 is at 22c most of the time and 28 max.

but if you compare a AMD 667 CPU then it wouldn't any hotter than the Intel 667 CPU

so my point is, you can't compare the Temp of todays CPU vs those old CPUs

even if you compare a P4 temp vs the P2 temp, the P2 will always win :p

agree, so far and like as like, intel runs cooler, but i have never fried an amd cpu so it just goes to show, you just never know these things.

Seems to me your temps are quite OK...

Oh, and...don't remove your HSF :p

My temp is usually 96.2 degrees.

My 2 machines usually are around 40 c
cases are usually less, but I don't have exact figures. :eek:

an update on my temps....

with the one window in my room opened and case open my temps reach 14 C...reason being, it is freakin freezes up north.....

the other test was done with my heater turned up to max blast....:)
