Rumor has it that ATI has another pumped up model of the 9700. They are waiting for nVidia to release the FX and they will launch theirs at the same time. The ATI card supposedly has DDR2 and will run on a .13 micron process. What do you all think? Just another rumor or will this happen?

It's called the R350...
ATI will announce it's launch after the GeForce FX comes out...
And, I believe it's not just a souped-up 9700, I think they changed a few things, as well as making it .13 process, and adding DDRII...

Yep I heard it too! And I DONT think its a rumor either. Seems to fit right up with the current 3d card trends. Meaning they gotta keep trumping each other (like Intel/AMD). So Nvidia releases FX they release the R350! Nvidia in the works for next card ATI releasing next card (hehe) then nvidia releases theirs and ATI boasts antoher. Its the usual. Gotta say though it will be a killer card!:D

ATi plans on making an R300 with a DDR-II memory interface, as well as the R350, and then a completely new core design, the R400. :t
Hehe p4gamer -- nvidia on ATi's heels instead of the other way around like the prev. years! :D lol....
or not :(

Ati may even get the new card out before the GF FX!!!!
ATi has had a record breakin end of the fiscal year. They are again working on having the fastest most performance graphics card this year.

The neat trick will be discounting the new card to Nvidias release prices.

The ATI vs Nvidia for XBOX2 issue is still not settled. ATI and Nvidia will produce, for microsoft, their best and most cost-efficient models; whichever one is the best wins. :t

Actually right now the Microsoft is producing XBOXs that don't even run on an nVidia graphic or ATI graphic. Microsoft and another company teamed up to make a cheaper, faster, vid card for the XBOX.
Microsoft hasn't released them yet because they don't know if they are going to make one equevelent to the nvidia card in there already, and start releasing them in the XBOX 1, or if they are going to make a super fast one to put in there XBOX 2. THey are also thinking about making there own CPUs for the XBOX. SO Intel, AMD, Nvidia, and ATI might be out of the question. :t

I'll believe it when I see it. I mean why reinvent the wheel here. Its not profitible to make their own cpu's and vid cards etc. as the R&D alone would eat up the extra profits. M$ smarter than that they are just bluffing *garunteed*.

If ATI releases its R350 right after nVidia releases the GFX, then nVidia will be in some serious trouble... From what i've been hearing the GFX only slightly out-performs the current 9700Pro. (pretty sad if its true givin the considerable clock speed advantage and how much time they've had to develop the card) if that is true however, the R350 is surely going to outperform the GFX and probably not have to use up a PCI slot in doing so. And if the R350 is released right after the GFX, it will be quite a while before nVidia comes back with something better. If the rumors are indeed true about the R350 then ATI definatly has momentum on their side. I'm a nVidia fan myself, but if this trend continues when I build my next machine, I may have to opt for an ATI solution instead. Only time will tell though, I think i'll be content with my Ti4400 for about another year and a lot can happen in that time. Its definatly an interesting race though.
I also second what P4 gamer and CV said regarding the xbox issue.
