It has always been an assumption of mine that Athlons were just as compatible as "true" x86 intel procs with no major hiccups.

I was talking with my friend the other day though (btw this friend is into audio production, etc) and he was saying that lots of good audio programs were unrunnable on Athlon systems because of incompatibilities. Has anyone else heard of this happeneing?

The programs he mentioned were Vegas Audio, Pro Tools LE, and SONAR

You tell him that I said he's full of ****. Sonar runs fine I know for a fact. Not familiar with the other two you mention. But I know that Steinberg's Wavlab runs fine, as does SoundForge 5.0, Cakewalk 8 & 9, Guitar Studio, Fruity Loops, Cubase VST/32, etc. etc.

Same here, using Pro Tools for a while and very happy http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
The only time I've noticed my 1 GHz T-Bird had difficulties, was when I tried to run Windows 3.1 on it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

The only things I found to not be compatible with my Athlon is Intel PIII and P4!!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif
