What kind of movie? Home video? DVD?
With DVD's you first have to decrypt them. Next, you need a program to convert the EXTREMELY high bitrate DVD VOB files down to a lower bitrate MPEG or AVI file. The decrypting process can take 1+ hours and converting a 2 hour movie takes my PIII 933mhz system more than 9 hours!

The Nero software has an option to burn a VCD (Video Compact Disc). But, like MadMatt said, it has to already be in an MPEG format before it will write the disc.

Flasking a two hr movie on my tbird 750@ 1000 takes 4 and a half hours with a bitrate of 2000+, 128 mp3,mmx idct, Athlon optimised 0.594 version. There must be something wrong with your setup or maybe it's just cos of Intel inside.
