Anyone still play CS?

Since I got me a computer that can run half-life and other mods (p1 and 2 MB ati rage to p3 and gf3 ti200), I've been looking to play these games online. Some friends of mine have a clan, but they are never on when I am and I am waiting to see if they will recruit me. The only other server I know of is 3pound, and I would get ruled and banned quickly. Anyone host/use a CS server I can play on?

Just go in and update a new list, then sort by ping speed and pick out the fastest ones where you will ping good. As you pick the servers out add them to your favorites. When your done, filter the list by favorites and there will be you new list with only all the servers you added that you will ping low on. A nice short, but fast list!
Well thats the way I do it anyways. I can care less what server I am on, as long as the server is close (east coast) and I get a nice and small ping :)

I know someone who just started the other day and i offered to train him up a bit in a few private one on ones with bots added. Myself i aint touched it in a loooong time

I did the update thing... I hate how it takes 20 mins to scan all of the servers.

u dont have to wait till it does all of them
just wait till about scans a 1000 or so and just click cancel

Its better if you just let it scan them all just one time. Because when you sort them by ping speed a lot of them are going to ping fast but not have any players in it or just two or three.

If you let it scan them all then you will be able to find maybe about 10 or 20 FULL servers with a nice ping... thoes are the ones you want to look for.

You're not going to find too many of them if you only scan 1,000. Just let it scan them all once then just go through them, then filter out the selected and you will have a nice list and never have to update list again :)

With a bunch of filters on, only about 300-1000 servers update for me (depending on the popularity of the map i'm looking for) :r

Noo, first put the filters on then update ... with all the good filters on (like dedicated server, not empty, ping <= 300, game = cstrike, etc) you will have only about 9000 servers to go through... and again u dont have to go through all of them if you just want to play quikly click cancel and choose the best server. Unless u really have plenty of time u can wait for all the thousands of servers to be scanned.....:p

I suggest using Gametiger to search for your games. http://www.gametiger.com

just do a search for servers in your state, for example I live in NYC and i just do a search for NYC and it pulls up all the servers with NYC in the title. They're in the area so i know i'll get a great ping. It's a great tool to find servers, and friends who are playing.

Yeah, NYC is a really good one. There are quite a few servers with "NYC" in their titles. I live in Connecticut, try putting CT into gametiger and you will get nothing like the results you would with NYC, most of the results stand for counter-terrorists and not Connecticut anyways! I am lucky though because CT is close enough to NY to get a ping below 80 (usually 60), so some servers on my list also have the NYC in their titles also :r

There are never any servers with nc in the title :(
