I ran out of the cleaning agent that came with my unlocking kit. I need to re-unlock my xp2000 because i messed up, but i've gotta clean it first, so i need to find something in my house that will get all the conductive grease and stuff off. My mom has nail polish remover. It's acetone free though. Will that work? Thanks for your help.

WD40 to remove the grease residue , then alcohol to remove the WD40 residue. Just a dab a do, like wetting your finger to turn a page. :p

Hmm... WD40 seems a little harsh, but i'll give it a shot. And when you say alcohol, you mean like isopropyl alcohol?

Yes, Iso . Both work fine , its just WD leaves a residue that I prefer to remove for saftey sakes. Its not harsh , but does cut the thermal grease better than just isopropyl alcohol by itself.

good quality aftershave doubles as alcohol and use cotton buds and be gentle.

I have used alcohol and an old tooth brush which did a pretty good job actually...just dip the tooth brush in some container (tea cup) and scrub away...the residue from the alcohol will evaporate in a few minutes.
