Hi folks,

I decided to buy the MSI K7T 266 Pro - R with SoftRAID because I think it is the best DDR-RAM Mainboard you can get now.
I do not know much about RAID, but I have read that it makes your harddisks double speed.
For example: IBM Deskstar GX 60 (I decided to buy it because it is the fastest harddisk)
this disk makes 39MB/s.
Well, I think with a raid controller onboard and two of those disks I get 80MB/s.

Am I right?

Soft raid does not perform as well as real raid, if you want real raid, pick up an old ultra66 and mod the thing, or pick one up already modded, they are cheap, and they do good raid for IDE drives. They may not support ata100, but if you are only getting a max throughput of 39mb, who needs more than 66?
