ok guys here is what i was wondering ive seen some great prices on the Geforce based cards on www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com) here is what i want to know. does it matter what brand the card is? ive noticed that some of these card providers are listed on Nvidias site as being a system builder
*3D Power, Ltd.
ABIT Computer (USA) Co.
*AOpen America, Inc. (AOA)
*ASUS Computer International
AZTECH Systems, Ltd.
*CardExpert Technology Inc./Gainward
*Chaintech Computer U.S., Inc.
*Creative Labs, Inc.
Daytona/Palit Microsystems, Inc.
*ELSA, Inc.
*eVGA
Gigabyte
*Hercules/Guillemot, Inc.
Jaton Corporation
*Leadtek Research, Inc. *Micro-Star International Co., Ltd.
Pine Technology USA
PowerColor Computer, Inc.
PROLINK Microsystems Co.
Sparkle Computer Co., Ltd.
*Visiontek
YUAN Technology
now some of these are pretty cheap as far as prices go and some are way more expensive. i want to know what you guys think about this. what would be the down side to getting a card from a non name brand manufacturer? is there a preformace issue? are some made cheaper then others? any input from you guys is appreciated.
Generally, non-brand card will have less overclockable memory, also problems with overall visual quality might happen, especially in 2D. I've even found it by myself once, when I went to some friend of mine and saw his Prolink GF2MX in standard 1024x768x32 desktop resolution, on same monitor like I have (17" LG Flatron 795FT), and I've noticed that as you go to the edge of the screen, the text goes more blurrier http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
The price might differ also when it's about All-In-One combo, like Asus 7100 AIO, or when card comes with faster memory then it supposed to have (Leadtek WinFast GF2GTS with PRO memory settings)

I have both an elsa gladiac geforce 2 gts with 32 megs of ram...and a leadtek geforce2 pro. Both cards run flawlessly at their set clock speeds and memory speeds.
The elsa card doesn't overclock worth beans...i can raise it from 200/333 to about 210/350 with stable results.
The leadtek starts with a little faster memory 365...i guess because itsa pro version. but it goes from 200/365 to 220/400 without a hitch. The only reason i haven't tried it faster yet is that i'm a wuss. I've heard i could push 450 with the memory and 235 with the core if was daring enough.
So....definitely go for a brand name...not creative labs because they overcharge you out the wazzoo. But at least you are guaranteed something of quality with a brand name. And...go for leadtek...they offer very competitive prices (they now offer a geforce3 for under 400 bucks, for example) and they are the most overclockable cards using only the stock cooling that comes with the card. Some folks using pelts on their video cards have gotten some pretty sickening results with geforce2 ultras...i think they have taken those from 250/460 up to 315/525...or higher http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
