Joystick Preference

I've recently gotten into emulations of arcade games. The biggest problem I'm having is control during the games I’m playing. I believe a joystick would help me immensely.

My question to you folks is, what joystick is the best for me?

I'm playing old time arcade games such as Asteroids, Defender, Joust, Ms. Pac-Mac, etc.

My OS is W2K stand alone (non-network), with a 400 MHz processor and 164 MB of RAM.

Get a nice gamepad, I play emulation games too and use a wingman rumblepad from logitech. It helps to get a gamepad with directional pad and anolog joysticks. I also use a Axis Color USB when playing multiplayer with my kids. I have a joystick but find them rather useless in anything but flight-sims.:t
