starfleet command III directx crashing!!

says i need directx 8.1 or later....i have 9 installed! ahhh...

running windows xp pro/512mb ram, ati radeon 8500 le 128mb, athlon xp 1700+...latest omega drivers

Are your sound a video drivers updated as well. Each driver is written to interface with a specific version of direct x. Your driver could be for DX 7 or 8 not 8.1 and that is causing the error or something in directx 9 does not work with starfleet. Example - the game looks at DX9 and see the 9 does not equal 8.1 but also does not determine it to be newer and gives the error.

Make sure you have the latest game patches installed. Check the SFC 3 website for similar issues or a fix.

yes they are updated. latest omega drivers (modified catalyst drivers)....i think it is most likely that it just sees that directx does not equal 8.1 so it doesnt work..there are no patches out for sfc 3. hopefully there will be soon. anyone else have this problem?

You can get a patch here http://www.activision.com/downloads/409.asp to run SFC3 with DX9
