Sony's Playstation is in 1/6 of American homes, the playstation 2 is in 1/8 of American homes. If the Playstation 3 is even half as popular, Rambus is back in business.

Its interesting after reading the linked article for the cell (http://news.com.com/2100-1001-948493.html) chip that its being pumped for gaming. Seems to me the technology could go well beyond simply shoot-em-up programs, and could really boost performance of CADS, or video editing software. Goes to show how much the gaming market can drive technological advances in a way.

"kinder gentler rambus" thats a laugh, if they hadn'r been so greedy they might not have drop themsleves in it so often and could have partnered Micron and Infineon in rambus production. The only thing that killed it was the price. Still, maybe they will learn their lesson.

One mans garbage is another mans treasure :p , we may not like seeing a greedy company survive but heck :p look at microsoft they charge for stuff that should come in patches or free updates

Well Rambus obviously makes a quality product because thier technology has been used in the PS2 and the GameCube I do believe.

Gamecube also uses graphics powered by ATI.

Not that I have anything against it, but some don't like ATI that much :t

Anyways, I liked Rambus. I could care less about the company and more on the product. The only problem is it costed a pretty penny ... like 12,500 pretties for 256Megs :D

So, what kind of trouble am I into given that I built my last two computers using mobos that take RDRAM (Gigabyte GA-81HXP and Intel D850EMV2L) ? I have 512 in my PC and 256 in my fathers. What are your thoughts on how long it will be available? Maybe we should stock up on a few more DIMMs while it is being produced??   I did use Kingston in both PCs ... hopefully they will continue keeping RDRAM in stock.
