I just purchased a new Philips CD-RW. I installed it in the exact manner as the previous burner was installed.

Now when I attempt to copy or burn anything (using Adaptec), I get an error message that says there are no recordable devices on the system. I have tried to re-configure it and have changed the settings to make it the primary CD drive and the CD-ROM the slave. I still receive the same error message no matter what I do.

it appears that your burner is not compatable with the software..try a different software or check roxio's site to see if yours is listed for Adaptec..

nero has a free demo download you can try http://www.nero.com/

Is the software you are using the version that came with the drive or an older version???

Try downloading and installing the latest VIA 4-in-1 chipset drivers. I have the same motherboard and had a similar problem that was corrected this way. Here's the link to VIA's downloads:http://www.viahardware.com/download/index.shtm#4in1
