from what I read it seems that you will be able to do the following things
Things you will be able to do
-----------------------------------
* Steal anything that isnt tied down
* Build your own towns for guilds
* Train with other players to be able to learn skills your character doesnt know (this is also the fastest way to raise skills even faster then fighting)
* The economy will be totoally player dependent on other players when you want to build a droid you need to seek out someone who makes droid parts and someone who puts them together etc etc
* When you craft a weapon it will say the name of the crafter on it (like stuff says made in china) , so you gain a reputation for makeing quality weapons and when people hunt with a weapon you sold to them you gain xp (points)
*You will be able to travel to 7 different planets (so far)
*You get to side with the huts(big fat green dudes) ,imperials, rebels,or neutual
*You get to have bar fights and basically do anything you want (the magazine said think of anything you would like to do if star wars galaxies was real life and chances are you will be able to do it)
Things you wont be able to do
--------------------
*Name any of your characters like the movie characters example: Darth Vader
*When there is a war for an area on a planet when you get killed in that zone you wont be able to return to the fight until the war for that area is over

oh and :p also when you fail to do somthing you promised for someone like work or somthing the system auto assigns the mission of killing you to a bounty hunter (randomly chosen) or you could pay a fee I believe
also
just so there wont be too many l43t dudes running around as Super Jedi gods with force powers killing everyone
* ALL players will have the same health so they get hit by monsters the same however your skill (blocking etc) can raise so you can avoid getting hit as often
* Very Very few people will have force powers but no matter what your choice of character or what you do everyone will have equal chance of getting force powers ... and force powers are given randomly they cannot be teached to other players

I'm pretty excited about this coming out. But there is always gonna be some contention about how the system will operate. First it was teh whole PvP/PvE debate. Then came SCS/MCS spectacle. All in all looks really kewl. Visit Galaxies (http://www.starwarsgalaxies.com) regularly.

last time I tried a StarWars Battle game it sucked big time

AG.....Star Wars Galaxies isn't going to be a RTS, completely different game, MMORPG, like EverQuest ;)
I'm really looking forward to this game, as long as the casual gamer can play and not only the hardcore players like in EverQuest. I can't devote at least 3 to 4 hours to get something done, so I really hope that Galaxies has something for everyone.
Also....even the far far remote chance of being a Jedi really would rock:D

Monthly fees are usually to keep your character on the server , maintain servers , and monthly updates in some games

They're shooting around a price b/t $10-15US for monthly service. I agree it sux, but they're holding all the cards. In the grand scheme of things I tell myself, "Well bucko, just go without a lunch for 2 days out of the month and there you have it."
Already pre-ordered the game, this is going to rock.
AG - Downloaded that project entropia, after some issues with my password finally logged on the first time last night. I love how they spawn newbies in the middle of a freakin swamp. So, I'm walkin around, figuring the red dots on the radar are something living. My g/f is like..."Oh go and talk to one of them, I bet they are people." Next thing I know I am running for my life with these oversized rabid monkey creatures hissing after me. Needless to say I was killed. But, figured out the whole revive station concept when I finally made it into a spaceport north of the swamp. I have no idea what's goin on in this game, but it has me interested.

well i've been in this game for quite a while already
i'm just still learning like you, scanvaging what i can, and training my character slowly
and yes the whole Point of MMORPG is that it's a free world you plactically do whatever you want
but the neat stuff about this one is that is FREEEEEEEEE
and you earn real money :D

What is this I see on some of the terminals about using a credit card to buy credits to use in the game? Maybe I am missing something.
The interface is pretty nice. Hope I interact with some people to get used to it. Tonight I should be spending some decent time on it (g/f was getting hungry...boo hoo).
As much as I dig the free deals out there (Still maintain presences in some MUDS!), I don't mind paying a couple bones each month for those "worlds" which I really want to play in. Everquest...definately not one of them. But, from the screenies and beta tester feedback Galaxies is gonna rock.
