game controllers??

OK-i am not a gamer but recently installed Comanche 4 and have been having some fun with it on the keyboard and mouse for a controller and today my brother inlaw turned me on to a joystick--a PC Raider sv-206.

I looked at interact's website and it said i could run it as a 2 button --2 axis controller- so i went to game controlers in control panel and clicked add--I get an error saying " Game port or game port drivers not properly congfigured --consult device manager."

What am i supposed to be seeing? What to do?

I am running a MSI KT3 Ultra2 (MS-6380E) w a xp2000, 512 2700 ,geforce 4mx, on xp pro with the onboard AC-97 sound .

Would have used a link but they dont let ya do that at interact for some reason. Try the real drivers Id say. If it still complains about midi then reinstall or update your soundcard drivers as that is what control the midi interface these days.;)

What the? InterAct makes an AxisPad too!? I bought one from a company called Game Elements who have no website and it looks the same...

I tend to stick to bigger names like Logitech. Controllers are fairly cheap compared to most periferals. I've been using the Belkin Nostromo N52 controller for a year playing WoW. I love it.
