When trying to run NFSHS on my system it keeps telling me to insert the game disc. Well it is inserted. And for the records its the store boughten disc, not a copy. Anyhow this is weird. I tried installing and running from both cdroms. And the thing that makes it so you dont need the cd Uhmmm. All just to get it to run on my P4. Wont go. Why does it not know i have the disc in the drive. Any clues? Upon searching google I found others with the same prob. in Windows XP but they claim to have go tit working. I tried the EA patch and everything- still wont recognize my disc. Tried it in buddies HP running windows XP and LOL it worked. So whats up with my system. Is it my cdom and if so why the burner and the dvd both? HELP! I love this game and its a no go now.:( :t

Did you get the message after you installed the no cd file, or even before that.

Tried out a no cd file and after trying to run it I got the message to reinstall.

No cd file I used replaced some files in the game directory, screwed everything up, luckily I backed up the save game files.
After reinstalling, everything worked fine.

If after reinstalling you're still having same problem maybe you can find your solution on the need for speed message board, gotta warn you, there's a lot of people who are dissing the game.

A lot of people are having problems with the game, hope it doesn't make you think to stop playing the game, cause I don't think it's such a bad game.
Has worked fine for me, finished championship mode with a lot of gold medals and a few silver.

No didnt try that yet as the instructions I got said to patch first. Will have to try that next. The real thing that bugs me is why dont it work right off the bat with the real cd installed. THis really sucks I have the real cd right here but it wont take it. Its in perfect condition too. Reads in every other pc I slap it in. This is the only game I have had this kinda issue with. Im bummen. I wonder, -I wonder IF the game points by default to D drive. Which in my case is wrong casue I have 3 partitions on the HDD. The DVD is F and the burner G. If so then Electronic Arts needs to get their head outta the sand but quick.:(

Still not finding it on EA. Will have to search google again. Ea is anoying with their layout on webpage. I had to get the NHL 2000 pacth today cause the LAN play was little studdery. All good now but it wasnt as good before. Hookey is great for multi action. Only gets on my nerves when one of your buddies goes on a penalty spree (unnesecary ruffnes etc.).:)

OK, got the 4.5 patch still no go.:( Hmm can run in 9x but then to play over the lan I'll have to serve from 98 to XP and ME systems. Dunno will that work ok? Its not my cd thats bad either cause I tried my lan buddies disc still the same. Its XP all the way that is the problem. But his version of XP (home not pro) works. So does windows ME! Errr this is annoying.:(

if it's only XP that has the problem

then try closing and turning off all the unecessary Services

might be one of them interfiering

Hey I never thought of that Thanks. I saw that list somewheres. Do you know a link or whatever that says what to turn off? I know a few you need to run or it stops stuff from working like net etc.:x that would also be the dif. between my store bought WinXP Pro and his HP XP home version. HP changes all kindsa stuff on their installs of XP. Maybe thats one of the things they do dif.?

I had this same problem with the Sims Unleashed, (vacation would work fine) when I installed the game it wouldn't work (with original, store copy) So I had to get a cd-crack for it to work, but then I couldn't update it to the latest patch.

I think I've got it figured out, and I probably know how you can fix it. I think the problem is caused by SafeDisk V2 in which it may check your computer for "illegal" tip-offs - I use a bunch of no CD Cracks cuz CD's are a pain in the (predictable word here). So I re-installed XP :p and now it works.

It wasn't so bad re-installing because I already needed to because I preformed too many "tweaks" and screwed my system up :r

(btw: are there any "tweaks" that actually do anything GOOD to your system? that are Proven? I think most "tweaks" are based on a theory that it 'should' or 'might' help.)

Cyan, I am thinking of a reinstall at this point as I cant finger why it worked on buddies and not mine. Yes, I figured Secure Rom2 had to do with it. Pain in the **** it is. Specially when it prevents you from playing a game YOU OWN! Sheesh.:(

Well reinstalled XP after a clean format. Still no go. Ran it on my AMD XP 1600+ system and it worked. Soooo I put the disc into my cdrw and wham it worked. LOL its this new Pioneer 66 udma dvdrom. Safedisc2 must not like it. Think a dvdrom flash will fix it. Im going to write pioneer cause thats just plain WRONG for a new dvd to be defeated by a gmaes piracy protection like that. It makes it useless man. Oh well its only one game but I HATE using my burner for reg. cdrom stuff like gaming!:D

Daemon tools does the same. Its free too but alas it doesnt work either. I tried using clonecd for image then mount to Daemon tools to get around it- "insert disc" pops up. Its the same thing my dvd does. Hmmm daemon emulates a dvd drive. Maybe there is something to safedisc2 not liking dvd's period. Emailed pioneer, lets see how snappy thier tech support is -haha.:(
