Hi guys...
I've got a new job in a computer store... The guy I replaced configured Outlook in a weird way (and I know almost nothing about Outlook...). What I need to know is; How do you delete an adress in the list of adresses in the mailbox? It won't let me do it! I've tried almost everyting but outlook just won't let me... I want to delete the old guy's adress (the one I'm replacing) or put mine instead but it won't let me edit his propreties either...
Please help!

Yea , in Outlook theres no "properties" selection, except ...right click the desktop icon and select properties, email accounts, select "view or change existing accounts ", next . You should get a list of all the mail accounts and type as they are processed. The mail account name could be Hotmail or a local provider , mail.att.net . If there are alot of accounts , you'll need to select "change" to view the account info. You can change the settings or go back and select/ remove the account. Just be sure you write down the account/server settings in case you need to refer to them.
If you dont have a desktop icon ... open Outlook , select Tools>Email accounts> ....the rest is the same.

The only thing I see when doing what you told me are 3 sections on top (I have to admit my Outlook is in french and it's 2000... sorry :P) The first one is "Services", the 2nd I think is "Storage" (not sure how to translate it) and the third one is something to do with adresses... Am I at the right place?

Have you tried tools /options/mail setup/email accounts?
or tools/email accounts - should be able to delete them from there.
You may not have access if you are logged on in his account properties - is it connected to a server or is outlook running standalone?

Didn't work...
Here's where I'm at:
Tools-> Adresse book (or whatever, second from top)
There's a list there. With the names of the people who work here. With MS after them (should ring a clue right?). I WANT TO DELETE THOSE OR EDIT THEM... That's the only thing I want to do but Outlook won't let me... and yes it's running on a server...

Select start menu , control panel , mail and fax - select exhange server and modify the user profiles - deleting the profile will kill all his settings - alternatively get the exchange administrator to change the password for the user account of your ex colleague to allow you to modify his settings.
If its XP you will have to select show profiles and delete it from there.

I think your logon may be locked down - you will need to get an administrative logon to change the machine settings as your account is probably just an ordinary user account if you are indeed on a domain as sounds likely as you use an exchange server.
Click start / run - type in mmc
you should get a box with console root
select add/remove snapin
select add and select domain users and computers
or local users and groups if you can
if you cannot do this your machine may very well be locked down
if you can - try and find the colleagues logon id under the users folder - change the password and logon as him
you should be able to clean his stuff up then

What system are you running ?? must be windows 9x?
win 2000& xp both have mmc.If you have win2k or xp then you have been locked down and will have to get an administrator to allow you access.

Have you tried editing the addresses in the "Windows Address Book" (Start/Programs/Accessories)?
My Outlook 2000 takes the Addresses from there!

I will have to go out shortly, so I'm submitting another option now!
Switch Outlook to use the standard Address Book (if it isn't already!).
In "Control Panel/Internet Options/Programs/Contact List" change the drop-down list to use "Address Book" (instead of "Microsoft Outlook") and start from scratch with your own entries.
:t
[EDIT] you may also find the remote Address Book (from the other Machine) in the drop down list mentioned above, If it's there you can choose to use that one if you prefer!
Chow For Now.

Yours is not to reason why! yours is but to do or do without an address book!
