Sweeper 01-04-2003, 06:52 AM It's been out for a few weeks or so. ;) Ammok 01-04-2003, 10:44 AM king you installed it yet?, worth doing? any bad signs? Giblet Plus! 01-04-2003, 11:09 AM I installed it, and it messed up dvd playback. I had to go back to 8.1 :( Ammok 01-04-2003, 11:32 AM ooooeeeeer....... Think I'll wait a month or twelve. T-Bird 01-04-2003, 11:41 AM Everything ran great for me, when I installed DX9. I personally think DVD playback is even better. (I use WinDVD ) Giblet Plus! 01-04-2003, 11:44 AM I tried windvd and powerdvd, and it didn't work for me. I'm not saying that it messes up dvd playback for everyone, but it did for me. T-Bird 01-04-2003, 12:55 PM That would suck..... Does it play AT ALL? bushmaster 01-04-2003, 01:08 PM When one reads about it at the MS site the details are quite vague. Personally I would like to know what type of hardware is in mind when it's written, and what type of hardware is it actually tested on during its trials at MS prior to it's release. I'm running it right now on XP pro and I've played alien v pred 2 and all seems well. No sound or vid problems as of yet. Giblet Plus! 01-04-2003, 02:02 PM Originally posted by T-Bird That would suck..... Does it play AT ALL? Nope, it didn't. I have winME, not XP, so my problems are probably rare. I went back to 8.1, and it works fine now. :) Bigjakkstaffa 01-04-2003, 02:15 PM Think I'll wait a month or twelve. Me too - dont liek the sound of many of the files still actually being beta class :( --Jakk:t Giblet Plus! 01-04-2003, 03:18 PM I think I'll try it again when it gets to 9.1. ConfusedAlien 01-04-2003, 04:11 PM not a big fan of dx. i had dx 7, ran perfectly, identified everything, hardware/software. switched to dx 8, boom, my comp is fried. half of my drivers and components are unrecognized and arent supported by "microsoft" so i must "replace it with a default microsoft driver" ok...no. i'll just roll back to dx 7 thanks. ConfusedAlien 01-04-2003, 04:12 PM lol i like how the members suggest to another to try out a supposedly faulty program just in case it is. If it turns out bad, well he's the one thats screwed. lol its like monty python and the holy grail. "what is your favorite color?" lol Ammok 01-04-2003, 04:17 PM blue, whats yours?:) Scavenger7 01-04-2003, 05:09 PM Originally posted by Bigjakkstaffa Me too - dont liek the sound of many of the files still actually being beta class :( --Jakk:t I only have one beta file in 9.0. mfc42.dll retail beta if you check your dx 8.1 files you will have the same beta file.. omega31 01-04-2003, 06:43 PM Yeah, I saw that mfc42.dll Beta Retail. I once made the mistake of installing DX 8.0a on top of DX 8.0 when there was a 8.0a update for users of DX 8.0. It was a fresh install, so I didn't bother fixing it and instead reinstalled completely. SysOpt.com
