I purchased some pc133 ram in November and have been running it at 100mHz with on an Asus CUSL2 mb with a 850e PIII processor w/100mHz fsb. I have allways run this setup with a 100/100/33 ratio in bios. the CUSL2 dosnt allow running the memory at 133mHz with the fsb set to 100mHz. Today I installed a 1gHz PIIIeb 133fsb processor and checked the bios for the processors new setting. The processor shows a 133mHz fsb but the memry ratio is still posting 100mHz (133/100/33).It will not boot into Windows if I have the ratio set to 133/133/33. Switch back to 133/100/33 boots just fine. The sticks are all marked pc133 and were all bought at the same time from the same dealer. Sandra Pro 2000 also recognizes it as pc100 ram, but I dont know if thats due to the fact that im running it at 100mHz in bios. I guess what I realy need to know is how to determine exactly what I have before I call the vendor that sold me the ram.
Thanks

I believe you will find that it actually is pc100 ram modules. I also have a board running at 100 mhz...the max for this board. I recently ordered 2 modules of Crucial 128 mb pc133 cas2, and removed my pc100 that was in the machine, and stuck the Crucial in here. I ran SiSoft Sandra 2001, and it correctly identified the ram modules as exactly what they are. The machine, however started flaking out so bad, I had to remove the pc133 and put my old pc100 back in...I then re ran Sandra to check on performance. It now identifies the ram modules by brand, and hz I.E. pc100 mhz.
So, if it were I...I think I would be chatting with the vendor...

Thanks Bovon, I guess I will be making a call to the dealer Monday. I would still like to know how I can check these sticks out. They were purchaced with a lifetime warranty. I will just have to wait a bit and see how that goes. I haven't had any problems with the ram, but I would like to get what I paid for.

Motherboard Monitor will ID the supported chip speeds. It identifies one of my sticks as 125MHZ and the other as 133MHZ which is correct. Both are installed and running at 100FSB. http://mbm.livewiredev.com/

Thanks for the link Buji. I like the program but it cant read the speed of my memory on an Asus board.

No SPD found.
Some boards, especially ASUS, shield of the Dimm SPD and
make reading it impossible.

Any other thoughts. My next attempt will be to install the ram in my son's computer and see how it is detected on an Abit BE62. I am going to install the monitor program on his computer and see if the speed can be read there.
