One of my case fans has started making this really annoying noise. It sounds like it's spinning. But then it starts increasing in noise to around twice it's normal noise for about a second. It repeats this over and over and over ect. ect. again. I have a temp sulution. I have one of my star wars action figures stick his hand into the fan (ouch) to stop the blade-O-anoyance. Then take his hand out again so the fan can spin once more. It makes it quite again for about a minute. Then it starts all over again!

I'm to cheap to buy a new fan unless it's my only choice. Can I repair the problem?

Clean the fan, might just be dust build-up near the motor,I have a similar problem with a little fan I made up for my vid-card. I just clean it up and it dosn't do that for a couple of days.

Nope. That sound is the sound of the bushing worn out, then it goes buzz and I stuck the file from fingernail clippers in there to stop it and it work again. Then you have to do it more and more until one day it stops spinning completely. Then you guy a new one. It's simply worn out is my guess. Avoid the pain in the ****, some place had fan sizes to fit p/s's for 99 cents apiece. Shop around.

Try pulling the round paper sticker off it. You may find a little plug that you can remove to add a drop of oil.
